In a media release celebrating nine years of successfully engaging Kindergarten Year 2 to Grade 5 students in summer learning, Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board highlights their program’s focus on literacy and numeracy skills, Religious Education, Indigenous Education, recreational activities, and supporting and communicating with families of SLP students.
According to Stephanie Vendramin, Site Administrator at St. Basil Catholic Elementary School, student engagement was high during the program. “In the three weeks of the SLP, it was amazing to see students develop their self-confidence in literacy and numeracy. Students participated in daily small group guided centers where they used engaging resources, games, and hands-on learning activities to continue developing effective strategies in reading, writing and math.”
The Sault Online article also includes some colourful photos of the board’s summer learning program in action.
