The CODE Summer Learning Program was included in a recent Toronto Star article about the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s summer programs:
“The board is also running a Grades 1 to 8 online tutoring program providing students with daily hour-long tutoring sessions and about 900 have registered. These TCDSB summer programs, which run for three weeks, end July 22. Funding came from the Council of Ontario Directors of Education, as well as the Ministry of Education, which provided boards with money to boost student re-engagement and run tutoring support programs.
“Brendan Browne, the board’s director of education, said in an email, ‘These summer programs support students by improving their skills in key areas such as hands-on learning, building interpersonal relationships, literacy/numeracy and encouraging creative thinking.’ They were ‘developed with the goal to assist students transitioning from learning during the pandemic to gain the skills to succeed in the 2022-23 school year.'”
