This year’s “SLP” will feature a renewed emphasis on identifying and assessing learning gaps
Once again, minimizing learning loss and maximizing potential for success with more vulnerable students will be the primary aim of the 2023 CODE Summer Learning Program.
Since 2010, CODE’s Summer Learning Program (with funding from the Ministry of Education) has been strengthening numeracy and literacy skills for young learners who could benefit from extra support.
This year, many boards will be offering a blended literacy/numeracy component in their programs. The 2023 “SLP” will also feature a renewed emphasis on identifying and assessing learning gaps for Kindergarten and Grades 1-6 students and then helping them increase their achievement levels and keep pace with peers.
In addition, summer learning will continue its proven strategy of a) helping students become more effective learners, and b) reporting the impact of SLPs on individual students (including successes and challenges) to parents, receiving September teachers, principals, and supervisory officers.
Below are some links that will help provide both background information and a real-time snapshot of the important and engaging summer programs taking place all across the province this year! And, as always, please feel free to share your news items, success stories or other SLP highlights through our contact page.
Here’s to another successful and inspiring summer of learning!
